The relationship between mother and child is one of deep intimate connection. This other moment between Leonice (Akõ Ewa) and Itamar (Ivini) expresses tenderness and embodies a sense of purity and love. Close contact with the mother’s body grants babies peace of mind and is essential until they have learned to be on their own.

The Marubo people united after exploitation by rubber tappers and loggers. They live in maloca communities, preserving their surroundings. In 1990, they were fighting for land recognition, which was achieved in Terra Indígena Vale do Javari seven years later. Recent attacks in the area have resulted in tragic incidents, including deaths of indigenist Bruno Pereira and journalist Dom Phillips.
