The camaraderie born out of community life is evident among the children, who turn the house into a playground, running in and around the central space with their inexhaustible energy, swinging in the hammocks, climbing the poles that support the roof, play-hunting, and building small fires to cook their prey, for real or sometimes just for fun.

The Yanomami, once in the Parima Mountains, now reside in valleys due to historical invasions. They have a population of about 38,000, with three primary languages. In 1990, Mirella Ricciardi supported their territory demarcation, which was achieved in 1992. In 2022, a new mining invasion caused a humanitarian tragedy surpassing the challenges of 1990.
