In the division of tasks, the men clear the land and sow fields, which the women will harvest. While the men go hunting, the women gather food and bring it into the forest extension of the house, which they call urihi a, the wooded area that integrates the community.

The Yanomami, once in the Parima Mountains, now reside in valleys due to historical invasions. They have a population of about 38,000, with three primary languages. In 1990, Mirella Ricciardi supported their territory demarcation, which was achieved in 1992. In 2022, a new mining invasion caused a humanitarian tragedy surpassing the challenges of 1990.
