Marubo women, like Cloviana (Vane Kashoya), make beaded necklaces, collecting snail shells from the river and crushing them into small pieces. They then pierce each piece with a sharp metal point on the end of a stick, which is rubbed between their open palms. Finally, they tie them on a string and rub them against a log with a pumice stone until they are rounded and of similar size.
