Rites of Passage

Warrior (Moran) having his hair shaved by his mother at the end of ceremony. For Morans, this shaving is a very sad moment, having to cut their long braided hair which has been their source of pride and power. This rite of passage after the Eunoto ceremony ends their warrior- hood. The Eunoto is the second public ceremony that a Maasai man passes in his lifetime.
